The University Grants Commission has granted autonomous status to RSET from 2020 onwards. The parent university of RSET (Autonomous) is A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Technological University, Trivandrum, Kerala. RSET is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.

The Department of Applied Electronics & Instrumentation started in the year 2001 with an under graduate programme "Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering". The programme aims at the development and implementation of electronics instruments for the purpose of measuring, monitoring and recording.
The Department of Civil Engineering was constituted in the year 2014 with an undergraduate programme affiliated to
M .G. University, Kottayam, Kerala with a sanctioned intake of 60 students. The programme aims at producing highly qualified manpower in Civil Engineering to meet the rapid techonological advances and industrial requirements.
Division of Computing Sciences laid its foundation stone in the year 2001 with the commencement of a B. Tech. programme in Computer Science & Engineering. Later, in 2004 Division of Computing Sciences bifurcated, and Department of Computer Science & Engineering came into existence.
Electrical and Electronics Engineering is one of the core Engineering branches started at Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology in the year 2004 with an undergraduate program (B.Tech.)
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology was started in year 2001 with a B. Tech programme in Electronics & Communication Engineering. The department currently offers a B. Tech. programme in Electronics & Communication Engineering with an intake of 180 students in 3 batches and two M. Tech programmes, viz. VLSI and Embedded Systems, Communication Engineering, with an intake of 24 students per programme. The department is currently approved as a research centre under KTU.
The department of Information Technology has been dedicated to creating top-tier IT professionals with the skills required for success in today's highly competitive and rapidly evolving IT sector since its inception in 2001. The department also provides individual attention to make them good citizens of our nation to serve the industry and society constructively. The Department's alumni hold top positions in industry and academia, both in India and overseas. The department's average placement rate is 97% out of eligible students.
Established in the year 2012 with an initial intake of 60 students in 2011, the Department of Mechanical Engineering has progressed by leaps and bounds in all respects in a short span of time. Presently the department admits 120 students per year to its undergraduate study programme. The department has attracted highly qualified and experienced personnel from various streams of Mechanical Engineering as its faculty. The department has successfully established various research groups working independently or in collaboration with various industries (NPOL, Tata Ceramics etc.) towards meaningful goal driven research activities. Such ventures ensure industry-institute interaction that puts theory into practice thereby improving the overall quality of academia. Supported by 9 state-of the-art laboratories, the department has categorized its various research activities under Energy Research Group (Solar & Thermal Systems); Computer Aided Engineering Group (FEA & CFD); Manufacturing Engineering Group (Production, Materials, Metallurgy & CAD/CAM).
B.Tech. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science programme aims at developing the technical skills of students to perform data processing and analysis, which is an essential task in various real-world applications. During the last decade, data science engineering has emerged as one of the most lucrative career fields in technology and allied businesses. This programme aims at building not only the core technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, data modelling and data mining, but also gives intensive inputs in the evolution of technology. The curriculum strikes a balance between computing and information technologies as well as statistics and mathematical sciences, thus allowing a thorough training of applying AI techniques in the data science field. The major focus of this programme is to equip students with statistical and mathematical reasoning, machine learning, knowledge discovery, and visualization skills.
The Department of Mathematics of RSET was a part of the Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities till 22nd June 2020. The Department of Mathematics was made an independent Department on 22nd June 2020 in order to promote research activities and inter disciplinary projects. The Department offers various courses in Mathematics in the B.Tech and M.Tech programmes. The Department of Mathematics is also recognized as a research centre in Mathematics for offering PhD under APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala and has two research supervisors. The objective of the courses offered by the Department is to create engineers with strong mathematical background, creative thinking and problem solving skills, through systematic training and research and by discovering feasible solutions to challenging real world problems. ...
One of the first departments to be established in RSET, in the year 2001, the Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities is an integral part of the institution. The Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities comprises the disciplines of Physics, Chemistry, English, Economics, and Physical Education. Student Welfare also falls under the purview of this department. In the undergraduate level engineering programmes, the department offers courses in Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Economics and English in the first year; Professional Ethics and Constitution of India in the second year; and Industrial Economics & Foreign Trade in the third year. The Department also provides courses such as Business Communication and Value Sciences, Fundamentals of Economics, Environmental Sciences, and Physics for Computing Science to students pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science and Business Systems.
