Wall Magazine

The Wall Magazine competition, organised by the Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities for the first-year B.Tech. students, is a periodic activity where students can exhibit their co-scholastic skills, including artistic and literary works.
Outcomes of the Competition:
- Enhances the reading skills of students
- Improves teamwork and coordination among students
- Develops the organising ability of students
- Enhances the aesthetic skills of students
- Improves communication, human skills, and social attitudes of students
- Increases the social consciousness of students

Conduct of the Wall Magazine Competition:
The competition is conducted class-wise among the first-year B.Tech. students of RSET. Each class has an editorial team that manages the wall magazine activity, and it is headed by the Staff Editorial Team, consisting of four faculty members who scrutinize the contents of the wall magazine. The performance of each class is evaluated by a judging panel comprising five faculty members based on a rubric already set by the Staff Editorial Team.

  2. The Wall Magazine competition serves as a catalyst for promoting learning beyond the classroom, providing a platform for students to explore and express themselves outside the traditional academic environment

  4. The competition actively contributes to the improvement of students' reading skills as they explore various themes and ideas for their magazine entries.

  5. Enhanced Organising Abilities:
  6. The competition challenges students to plan and organise their contributions effectively, honing their organisational skills in alignment with Program Outcome 11.

  7. Improved Teamwork and Coordination:
  8. Participating in the Wall Magazine competition encourages students to work collaboratively, fostering teamwork and coordination among peers, aligning with Program Outcome 9.

  9. Enhanced Communication, Human Skills, and Social Attitude:
  10. Through the creative process and interaction within the editorial teams, students develop improved communication skills, interpersonal abilities, and a positive social attitude, reflecting Program Outcome 10.

    In Semester I, the first Wall Magazine Competition saw the students embarking on a self-directed learning journey through themes as varied as the Trojan War and the Metaverse. Their diverse choices and inventive presentations transformed the competition into a vibrant forum for discovery, igniting a passion for learning that transcended the classroom walls.

    The second Wall Magazine Competition, held during the second semester of the first-year program, explored the crucial theme of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We believe that understanding the SDGs can ignite the creativity of budding engineers as they grapple with the world's critical challenges. Each team delves into a specific SDG, gaining valuable insights and then sharing their knowledge with a broader audience. This initial pool of knowledge, acquired during the early stages of their engineering journey, can broaden students' perspectives and inspire them to develop innovative solutions that benefit society. The culminating event, held at The Chavara Hall, was a vibrant exhibition of student ingenuity. Each meticulously crafted wall magazine served as a testament to their dedication and commitment to the SDGs.

    S1 AEI won the first prize and received a trophy, cash prize, and certificates. S1 ECA and S1 ECC secured the second and third positions respectively and were awarded cash prizes and certificates. S1 IT secured the fourth position, and S1 CU secured the fifth position.
