Circuits and Measurements Lab

Electrical circuits form the foundation of modern technology, from household appliances to industrial machinery. The Circuits and Measurements Lab is designed to provide hands-on experience in understanding circuit theory, analyzing electrical parameters, and using essential measuring instruments. This lab bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enabling students to develop problem-solving skills and technical proficiency in electrical engineering. In lab the students get familiarized with calibration of various meters like energy meter and wattmeter, extension of meter ranges etc.

Electrical Machines Lab

Electrical machines are integral to power generation, industrial automation, transportation, and household appliances. This lab helps students develop a strong foundation in machine operation and control, which is critical for designing and maintaining electrical systems in real-world applications.

Key Experiments Conducted

  • Open circuit and short circuit tests on transformers
  • Load characteristics of DC motors and generators
  • Speed control methods of DC motors
  • Performance testing of induction motors
  • Synchronous motor and generator operation

Simulation Lab

The Simulation Lab in the Electrical Engineering department plays a crucial role in modern engineering education by enabling students to analyze, design, and test electrical systems in a virtual environment. The Lab is equipped with 36 Computers for conducting the simulation studies in multifaceted domains Like Control System, Power Electronics, Signals and Systems and Power System using various software's like MATLAB, PSCAD, Auto CAD. Simulation Lab facility is used for organizing workshop Lab sessions, add-on/short term courses like IoT , Robotics etc. Simulation provides an efficient and cost-effective way to test complex electrical systems without the risks associated with physical experiments. It enables students to visualize circuit behaviour, analyze power flow, and optimize designs for real-world applications. Moreover, simulation software allows engineers to study the impact of system parameters on performance, making it an invaluable tool in research and industry.

Key Experiments and Applications

  • Simulation of basic electrical circuits (AC/DC analysis)
  • Power system analysis – Load flow, fault detection, and stability studies
  • Control system simulations – PID controllers, state-space modelling
  • Power electronics applications – Rectifiers, inverters, and converters
  • Electrical machine modelling – Motor and generator performance analysis
