  • Students of the department are actively engaged in research and project works funded from both government (KSCSTE, IEDC, KSUM) and industries (HMT, GE). Projects with social relevance have been carried out by students.  News
  • Students regularly participate and win prizes in various technical competitions conducted by external agencies (IEDC, CIAL, BPCL, Mahindra)
  • The department has successful Student Exchange Programs with International Universities (Sojo University-Japan and Aalen University of applied Sciences-Germany).
  • Distinguished alumni are working for core companies like Bosch, Mytrah and MRF.
  • A few alumni and students have launched own ventures and turned to be successful entrepreneurs (Verdatum AI, Daptive Structures etc.)
  • Faculty members and students publish their research work regularly at various international journals and conferences of repute.
  • Faculty members and students are regularly involved in activities of various professional bodies (ASME, IIW, SAE, IEI, etc.)
  • The department is well-equipped with CAE/CAD lab having modern work stations installed with latest 3D modelling and analysis softwares.
  • The department association regularly conducts training programs and workshops on Robotics, Aerodynamic modelling, programming in Python and national level Faculty Development programmes (FDPs).
  • Certification courses are conducted regularly for faculty members and students on AUTODESK FUSION 360® & CATIA®.
  • Industry collaborated courses like the HMT-RSET Combined CNC Training Program benefit external personnel. Dedicated high-tech CNC Machining Centre cater for industrial projects.
  • An annual international conference viz., Green Buildings & Sustainable Engineering (GBSE) conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with the Civil Engineering & Electrical Engineering departments of RSET has garnered worldwide recognition.
  • Innovation by Faculty in Teaching Learning

    • CNC training programme for students in collaboration/Joint certification  with HMT, Kerala to improve the practical knowledge of students
    • Opportunity for the students to involve with CNC machining on real world precision products.
    • One day training by United NDT Training and Inspection Centre Cochin, for interested students, this provided hands on experience on NDT equipment.
    • Preparatory course for Autodesk certification in Fusion 360 is conducted regularly during SEP hours for interested studentsof higher semesters. 49 students have successfully completed the course and obtained certification till date.
    • Preparatory course for advanced modules of CATIA v6 is conducted during semester breaks for interested students. This enables students to appear for Dassault Certification exam.
    • Python Boot Camp conducted by students for students with the support of department faculty.
    • 3D printer was designed and fabricated by student guided by department faculty members.
      • Based on his expertise a 3D printer workshop was conducted by student for students with support of faculty.
      • Further the student designed and fabricated a 3D printer for JRU Pvt. Ltd.
    • Department faculty members attended Faculty Training Programme on ANSYS–CFD conducted by Innovent Engineering Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. This was utilised for training faculty and students.
    • FAB Lab training for students and faculty conducted
      • Enable  them to develop their prototype for different projects using 3D printer-Ultimaker, laser cutter, Shop-Bot for CNC milling, Vinyl Plotter, sand blaster etc..
    • Workshops of different levels on robotics conducted by department student association for students.
    • Sphere Drone Design Fabrication & Flying workshop by M/s AerotriX gave overall idea regarding aerodynamics and design of sphere drone
    • Hexapod Robotics work shop by Dalvik Apps equipped student to make hexapod robot.
    • The knowledge from previous level helped students to conduct Quadruped Robotic workshop for junior students.
    • Bal-Bot workshops and competition conducted by students under the support of faculty members
    • Faculty completed online certification course by NPTEL and utilised the experience and materials received for taking that course for students
    • Faculty attended faculty orientation programme funded by university and conducted the same for students to share his experience.
    • Faculty attended university funded workshop based on which the CAD lab for first years were re-planned and organised.
    • PPTs and animations of basic subjects have been prepared and being used during course delivery. It has been made available in our college website.
    • Class delivery with the help of 3D models and cut sections of automobile.
    • Project exhibition of final year B. Tech. students to motivate junior batch students.
    • Design project exhibition and competition was conducted for students, and awarded prize money for the winners.
